Life Through My Lens On The Road
Hi, my name is Vicky O’Connor, and I am a visual storyteller capturing the beauty of our world.
I am a freelance photographer, writer, teacher, mother, farmworker, administrator, animal lover, chief cook and bottle washer (sometimes).
I live with my partner on our sheep and beef farm at Horoeka in the Tararua region of the North Island of New Zealand,
I have four grown-up beautiful, courageous daughters who continue to inspire me to expand my thinking beyond my own imagination.
I am passionate about helping people in any way I can with life’s challenges.
I describe my photography as “life through my lens”. My style is varied, as has been my journey through life, but agriculture, animals, and nature have played a huge part in my photography world.
Wandering around outdoors with my camera taking it all in is the happiest place I can be.
The ability to escape into New Zealand’s world-renowned natural landscapes and culture with my camera is something I have always appreciated. Privileged in having access to such a diverse range of scenery and people, my passion for capturing and sharing these stunning experiences with others, especially those who may not have the same opportunities, is truly rewarding.
I discovered I could use photography to connect to others, help them slow down, stop long enough to look first, then to see, so they can experience the little things we all miss in our rushed daily lives.
Starting a blog means I can invite you to come along with me on my journey to new and exciting places.
I hope you enjoy viewing my visual blog as much as I enjoy capturing the beauty of New Zealand through scenery, animals, and the interesting diversity surrounding us.

Awesome! Can’t wait to hear the updates!

Thanks Anna, I think it is a better to take photos than to run a blog!

Sounds like the dream trip!! I’ve been longing to get down South and really have decent look around, but at the moment, I’m waiting for knee replacement surgery. Once that’s out of the way, I’m hoping I’ll be able to get to some of those beautiful spots with my camera. Age has never been a factor for me either and does not define me, but the bits of my body choosing to be less than co operative, is been a pain in the rear or knee? I look forward to watching your adventures. ?
Vicky
Sorry Jacqui for not responding to your lovely message. I have found it pretty tricky to find time and energy both at the same time to get near a blog…but today I have done a little bit of a catch up and practise. My body doesn’t like what I am doing one little bit, but the heart, mind and soul are having the best time ever!!
Vicky
I hope you are going to be sharing work from your own adventures coming up! Have fun.
